Programming Resources I Follow
I was considering sharing which resources I follow and read for a long time. Today, I will mention various interesting and eye-opening blogs, websites, YouTube channels, and podcasts related to programming. I try to keep myself up to date with these resources.
Blogs & Websites
1. freeCodeCamp
Specially freeCoceCamp News section is a great place for me to follow new progress and technologies. I come across and review in detail the projects developed in the fields I am interested in. It gives some ideas and patterns for my future projects and works.
2. Medium
I spend some time reading web development blogs such as JavaScript in Plain English, and Better Programming. Also Medium contains a variety of topics and I read articles on the economy, communication, self improvement, and health sections to learn new things and broaden my perspective.
3. Dev.to
Here is one of the most popular platforms among developers. It’s possible to encounter different project ideas, and advice from senior developers. Indeed It’s a great community and people support each other to get a better place in their careers.
4. Hacker News
I visit this place almost every morning and the things that catch my attention generally are the contents about programming, entrepreneurship, business, and career. You may come across an amazing GitHub repository. There is also a definition regarding the contents it covers; “anything that gratifies one’s intellectual curiosity.”
Youtube Channels
1. Traversy Media
Brad shares his knowledge and experiences and I benefited especially from his web development videos. And you can find many tutorials, and projects built with Javascript, Reactjs, Html, Css, Python, etc. I highly recommend it who want to reach out for high-quality video content.
2. freeCodeCamp
freeCodeCamp has massive and up to date content in their channel. Besides, they are as versatile and high quality as their curriculum. Web development, mobile development, blockchain, algorithm, and so on.
3. Codevolution
If I introduce this channel in two words, I would say learning Reactjs. I spent a significant amount of time learning Reactjs and its ecosystem with Vishwas’s super contents. He keeps sharing videos about Redux, Data structures, design tips and so.
4. Web Dev Simplified
His practical videos on web development technologies and tips about learning new skills are on another level. He narrates complex things to the other side quite easily.
5. developedbyed
One of the video content creators with the most entertaining narration. He can explain subjects without boring the learners, thanks to his funny humor.
6. The Net Ninja
Shaun teaches various programming languages and new technologies on his channel. I benefited and made practiced using his MERN Stack crash course series.
7. Academind
Here is another resource that I love their explanations and teaching methods. They definitely mention the “under the hood” section in their courses. Now, while I’m learning mobile development with React Native, I benefit from their free resources.
8. Lama Dev
This channel has real world projects built with JavaScript, Reactjs, and Nodejs. One of the two channels that build such large and multi-featured projects.
9. JavaScript Mastery
This is the other of the two channels containing large and real world projects. Mobile development, full stack projects, and so forth.
10. Stefan Mischook
I’m following Uncle Stef to broaden my perspective, change my mindset, and approach things differently. There were things that I was surprised by, learned, and tried to apply to my life while listening.
Podcasts
1. Scrimba Podcast
It’s a good resource to listen to developers’ challenges and how they overcame them. Their episodes include different stories such as making a career change, attending interviews, roadmaps, and more.
2. Syntax — Tasty Web Development Treats
I first met Wes Bos in the JavaScript 30 challenge. And I learned valuable things about Javascript there. In this podcast, Wes Bos and Scott Tolinski dive deep into web development topics, explaining how they work and talking about their own experiences.
3. CodeNewbie Podcast
In a nutshell, stories, and interviews from people on their coding journey. I guess I listened to Danny Thompson’s story for the first time here.
4. Fragmented — The Software Podcast
Their goal is to help people to become better software developers. Topics can be testing, patterns and practice, libraries, and more.
5. The Stack Overflow Podcast
They host impressive guests and talk about what it means to be a software developer, how technologies are developed, and what kind of innovations will be in the future.
Apart from these, you can also take a look at Harvard Business Review and BBC Worklife where I read articles about business life, productivity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the future.
